Firm trains 300 installers on solar installation

A power company, WHC Solar, has organised a technical installation training for about 300 solar installers in Kano to improve their technical skills and reduce errors in the installation of solar power systems.

The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Clint Chan, said the training was part of efforts to equip installers with the knowledge and practical experience needed to provide quality services to homes, businesses and industries.

Chan stated this on Saturday in Kano during the training, which attracted nearly 300 participants, exceeding the company’s initial expectation of about 250.

“Nigeria is still facing electricity challenges, which is why our mission is to ensure that everyone has access to electricity, starting with Nigeria,” Chan said.

He explained that the training was designed to equip installers with the technical knowledge and practical experience needed to install solar systems properly and provide better services to their customers.

According to him, the company organised the programme after observing that some installers needed further technical training to minimise errors during installation.

“We noticed that some installers may not fully understand the technology, which can lead to mistakes. We organised this training to help them improve their skills and become more experienced technicians who can contribute positively to society,” he said.

Chan said the training attracted nearly 300 participants, exceeding the company’s initial expectation of about 250.

He added that the programme included practical sessions on installing and configuring inverters and lithium batteries, as well as understanding how the components communicate with one another.

He said the company remained committed to supporting the growth of solar energy sector.

“We are committed to staying in Nigeria and contributing to the growth of the solar energy sector,” Chan said.

Chan added that participants were expected to receive certificates recognising their participation in the training.

Also speaking, a distributor, Sani Abdulkadir, popularly known as ABDK, said he attended the programme following an invitation from the company.

“Before, you could count the number of houses using solar energy, but the situation is changing as more people are embracing it,” he said.
