Alleged invader dies during the weekend

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) — Another person has died following a deadly home invasion.

Eric Basco died over the weekend at the Tupelo hospital, Union County Coroner Pam Boman confirmed.

He allegedly broke into a County Road 176 home on Thursday morning and killed Bobby McGill, 81.

McGill’s wife safely escaped.

Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said the motive was likely burglary, and that Basco went into a bathroom and shot and wounded himself.

Boman said Basco’s body will undergo an autopsy.
