CARROLL COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - Authorities arrested two people in Carroll County after they stole five firearms and some cash.

On Monday, Carroll County Deputies were dispatched to the Teoc area of Carroll County for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of County Road 111.

When deputies arrived and spoke with the caller, they identified two people in the vehicle.

A resident in the same area later reported to deputies that his home had been robbed. The resident reported that five firearms and $100.00 in cash were missing.

Two suspects were identified by investigators.

After notifying the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department to be on the lookout for the vehicle and the suspects, Montgomery Deputies informed Carroll Deputies of the suspects’ location.

After the approval of both Sheriff Jeff Tompkins and Sheriff Clint Walker, Carroll Deputies went to the home of one of the suspects’ parents in Kilmichael.

Both suspects were located inside the home after the homeowner gave consent to search the home.

Alicia Michelle Leach, age 54, of Kilmichael, was taken into custody.

Leach was booked into the Grenada County Jail and charged with burglary of a dwelling.

After further investigation, Howard William Lockhart, Jr., age 31 of Kilmichael, was arrested and booked into the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility.

He was also charged with burglary of a dwelling. His bond was set at $20,000.

Upon further investigation, some of the stolen firearms were located inside an abandoned structure in Kilmichael.

“From the neighbor watching over his neighbor’s home and reporting suspicious activity, to the cooperation between our Deputies and Montgomery County Deputies, these arrests were made and stolen property recovered through teamwork and dedication. I thank the neighbor for his involvement, our deputies for their quick work, and Sheriff Tompkins and his deputies for their assistance. The residents and citizens of Carroll County work hard, and we won’t tolerate thieves breaking in to steal from them.”
