NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police said a suspect in a fatal Lake Terrace stabbing has been arrested.

Police said a man died shortly after midnight on Oct. 6 after an attack on or near the LSU-New Orleans campus on Oct. 5. The New Orleans Coroner identified him as 37-year-old Brandon Wheeler.

According to the NOPD, Wheeler reported being stabbed several times while sitting in his vehicle around 9 p.m. He managed to escape, only to be struck when the suspect drove the vehicle into him somewhere in the 2000 block of Lakeshore Drive.

Wheeler was taken for emergency treatment, but died at a hospital, the NOPD said.

On Tuesday (Oct. 13), police said they arrested David Griffin Jr. as a suspect in the stabbing.

Officials said Griffin was booked as fugitive by the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office, and he will remain there until he is extradited to New Orleans and booked on a second-degree murder count.
