Traffic builds around Tupelo Target
TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) —Traffic is already causing headaches around Tupelo’s new Target, even before the store’s official grand opening Sunday.
The store on North Gloster Street opened early to shoppers Tuesday night, and traffic has been heavy off and on throughout the day Wednesday.
Right now, drivers have limited options getting in and out of the shopping center. Woodward Way remains closed, while Tupelo officials say Commonwealth Boulevard is expected to open Friday at 11:30 a.m.
That means congestion can build quickly as shoppers enter and leave the parking lot.
Some shoppers told WTVA they are trying to beat the traffic by arriving early, while others believe coming later in the evening may be the better option.
WTVA also witnessed a crash near Sawmill Drive by Chipotle while covering traffic in the area.
Drivers heading toward the new Target should expect possible delays, especially during peak shopping and evening rush-hour traffic.
