FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) – Lifesaving help is closer at hand at a local community college.

Itawamba Community College (ICC) Campus Police are working to distribute 1,000 fentanyl harm prevention kits to students and employees on Tuesday and Wednesday.

ICC has placed 25 emergency overdose boxes across its locations.

The boxes are located in main areas and contain naloxone, a medication used to reverse an opioid overdose, along with other lifesaving resources.

The kits were provided by Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office through its One Pill Can Kill campaign.

“If it is anything that is not prescribed by a doctor, do not take it,” said ICC Police Chief Jason Dickinson.

The distribution follows Fitch’s recent visit to ICC, where her office trained students and employees on how to administer naloxone.
