Narcan training being held in Oxford
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) – A free Narcan training session is being held in Oxford.
The Oxford Police Department, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, and the University Police Department are partnering with Communicare to host the training.
It will be on Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Oxford Police Training Room at 9 Industrial Park Drive.
Narcan will be provided to all who attend.
The training comes after the death of two Ole Miss students – Aidan Hamilton, 18, and Robert Strang, 20 – on Monday, Sept. 21.
Their cause of death remains under investigation, and toxicology reports are not yet available.
Kratom from a nearby store was found at each location. However, whether other drugs were involved remains under investigation.
Kratom has been illegal in Oxford since 2019.
Two men were arrested for allegedly selling it the same week as the deaths.
Oxford police on Friday did not indicate whether the new arrests are related to the investigation into the students’ deaths.
