HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) – High school students in Chickasaw County are getting a head start on their futures.

Houston High School hosted its annual College and Career Fair Wednesday morning.

Nearly 400 juniors and seniors from Houston, Okolona, and Houlka attended the event.

Students had the chance to talk with representatives from colleges, the armed forces, construction, healthcare, trades, and other career fields.

WTVA Reporter Madison McCarter and Chief Videographer Alvin Ivy were among them, speaking to students about careers in broadcasting.

“We provide opportunities daily, weekly,” said Zane Thomas, principal of Houston High School. “This is our large culminating event to help bring those businesses, those colleges, opportunities, those career opportunities into our school building to our students so they can see what their options are beyond graduation.”

Houston High School leaders said they recognize that success after graduation can look different for every student.

They said they are committed to making sure every student has everything they need for their future.
