JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) – Visitors to the Magnolia State generated billions, setting a record.

The 2025 Tourism Economic Contribution Report was released.

The finding? More than 45 million visited the state, spending more than $12 billion.

The report said a total economic impact of more than $18 billion was generated.

The research group reached this total by adding visitor spending, indirect sales, and induced sales.

What makes these tourism achievements especially meaningful is that they are built on authentic Mississippi experiences. Whether visitors come to explore our musical heritage, discover our history, enjoy our outdoor recreation, attend festivals and sporting events, or experience the warmth of our hospitality, they leave with a greater appreciation for our state, and they help create lasting economic opportunity while they are here.

The findings showed that the food and beverage industry saw the most impact, followed by lodging and retail trade.

These accomplishments are the result of strong partnerships across all 82 counties. From destination marketing organizations and attractions to restaurants, hotels, retailers, and countless small businesses, our tourism industry works together every day to create memorable experiences that keep visitors returning to Mississippi.
