As it heads into its 29th season this month, South Park announced a change of its name — to South America.
The announcement is a troll of Donald Trump and his drive to rename buildings, bodies of water and even a state.
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone also got in a dig at Paramount, the parent company of Comedy Central and Paramount+, where the new season will premiere next week.

Parker and Stone said in a statement: “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”

Trump’s announcement last month that he would rename Lake Ontario to Lake America, amid a trade war with Canada. That was followed by Apple and Google’s falling in line, and agreeing to change the name in their map apps.

Over the weekend, the show won an Emmy for animated program, and it followed up with another spoof of the president and his craving of kudos.
The Comedy Central season premiere will be at 10 p.m. ET on Sept. 16, followed by streaming availability the next day on Paramount+.

They lost all credibility when they found absolutely nothing worth parodying in the Biden administration’s tenure.
Capitulation is right. especially by every GOP senator and member of congress.
I don’t know if Trey & Matt would ever see this comment. I hope someone from South Park will see this.
Trump, Tariffs, ICE, Gun Control, Covid, Censorship, smoking bans, the environment, and every subject South Park has touched on in the past almost 30 years illustrates the common sense logic better than hours of discussions with everyone- including me – and show is still great.
Also, Casa Bonita is my favorite restaurant and a must visit every time I am in Denver.

Not a single dig at Biden for four years but make an entire unwatchable season “bravely” making fun of Trump 11+ years in and still win awards. Imagine the poor souls making good content who didn’t have the foresight to sell out for a billion dollars or phone in hacky Trump jokes a decade too late.
Oddly enough they hate Trump but still won’t do an episode going after Bibi. They were happy to push Bush war propaganda and hatred of Jews for decades but I guess you lose your testes when they give you a big enough check.
Right, and Biden was such an easy target too.They missed out.
