U.S. Central Command confirmed that an American autonomous underwater drone malfunctioned in Middle Eastern waters more than a day ago while conducting surveillance in support of ongoing operations.

CENTCOM spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins said the older-model vessel was not carrying classified sonar, radar, sensitive data, or other sensitive equipment, and that U.S. operations in the region are continuing. Iran’s IRGC Navy later released footage and photos claiming it had captured the U.S. Navy Dive-LD underwater vehicle, manufactured by Anduril. A U.S. official speaking to Reuters confirmed the malfunction.
