LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) – A 15-year-old will be facing burglary and assault charges as an adult.

Thursday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced that Donald McGaughy, of the Auburn community, was moved to the Lee County Adult Detention Center.

Charged with burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a dwelling, and rape/assault with intent to ravish, his arrest stems from an Aug. 30 incident where a resident called 911 for a burglary and an assault around 6 a.m.

A victim told deputies that the alleged suspect was a 15-year-old who lived nearby, law enforcement said.

Deputies found and took McGaughy into custody, first taking him to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center.

He was placed on a hold order by the Lee County Youth Court and was certified as an adult in connection with the investigation on Sept. 1.

A judge then directed him to be moved to the adult facility.

His bond was set at $50,000.

The case is set to go to a Lee County Grand Jury in January.
