NMHS opens new medical office building
TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS) cut the ribbon on its newest facility.
The Crossover Medical Plaza sits at 718 Crossover Road, behind Waffle House and down the road from the hospital.
The three-story building houses Med Serve, Urgent Care Kids — a new pediatric urgent care — Dermatology Consultants, North Mississippi Retina Center and North Mississippi Eye Care.
“It brings together a number of specialties in one convenient location,” said NMHS President and CEO Shane Spees. “We still have room for growth here.”
“This facility gives us more space to provide more access to patients so that patients don’t have to travel out of our area to get sub-specialty care for their retinal conditions,” said Heather Hancock, a retina surgeon at NMHS.
“I think it’s very important for patients of north Mississippi to have local care available because many of these diseases require monthly treatment,” said Etienne Schonbach, a retinal specialist with NMHS.
“We’ve got the latest and the greatest of everything,” said Kenny Cook, a family nurse practitioner with Medserve. “We’re up-to-date as far as computers; we’ve got all new everything. Larger rooms. Hopefully, we’re going to be able to accommodate more people and get them through quicker.”

It’s now open to the public, except for Urgent Care Kids, which will open on Oct. 1.
North Mississippi Health Services broke ground on the facility in April 2025, becoming a $25 million project.
