Amory police ask public for information in deadly shooting

AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - The Amory Police Department is asking the public for any information into a deadly shooting on Friday night.

Coroner Alan Gurley identified the victim as Amariontae Gates, 22, of Houston.

Amory police officers received a report of shots fired minutes before 10 pm. It happened in the area of East Avenue. While they responded, they received information of a person suffering from gun shot wounds.

Officers administered medical care to Gates until EMS arrived. However, he did not survive.

Police received another report of a second person arriving at the emergency room at North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore with a gun shot wound. A medical team transferred that person NMMC in Tupelo in serious condition.
