Miami submits paperwork for Cam Vaughn to enter transfer portal, WR drops claims against school
Miami has submitted a legislative relief waiver request for Cam Vaughn to enter the Transfer Portal, Vaughn’s agent, Will Turboff of A&P Sports, told On3’s Pete Nakos. In addition to this, Vaughn has now dropped his claims against Miami.
Vaughn was dismissed from Miami earlier this month after joining the program in January. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal confirmed Vaughn’s dismissal during a radio hit on WQAM last week, ending the former West Virginia and Jacksonville State transfer’s time in Coral Gables before ever playing a snap with the program.

“Philosophically, you want it to work for everybody,” Cristobal said. “You work endless days and nights so it can work. And then there comes a time where decisions have to be made. That’s just the way it is. It’s a process that nothing or nobody gets in the way of being 1-0. In terms of when you make moves, you make moves that are strictly for the betterment of the team. That’s why they’re made.”
Cam Vaughn has dropped lawsuit against Miami ahead of season
The receiver seemed poised to take Miami to court for an opportunity to hit the portal for the fourth time in the last three years, but that will no longer be needed, as he has now dropped his lawsuit. In 29 career games played (17 at Jacksonville State and 12 at WVU), Vaughn has hauled in 83 receptions for 1,344 yards and nine touchdowns.
After entering the transfer portal, Vaughn became the No. 201 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. He was also the No. 36-ranked wide receiver to hit the open market during the 2026 portal cycle.
Vaughn played high school football at Temple (Ga.) before joining Jacksonville State in 2023. He committed to West Virginia as the No. 439 overall player and No. 73-ranked wide receiver to enter the transfer portal from the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings.
Vaughn was one of 13 players to commit to Miami out of the transfer portal this past cycle. That group includes former Duke receiver Cooper Barkate, who was one of Miami’s marquee transfer additions along with fellow Blue Devils teammate Darian Mensah after last year’s run to the national championship game.
