TUPELO – After months of behind-the-scenes court deliberation, the Lee County Circuit Court has dismissed a case that attempted to bar the city of Tupelo from banning the distribution and sale of the herbal substance kratom.

On Aug. 18, Circuit Court Judge Paul Funderburk dismissed the case against Tupelo by local store owner Mohamed Gamiel, who appealed the Feb. 3 ruling last March.
