Italy’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday demanded “urgent clarification” from Israeli authorities over the detention of several Italian activists in the occupied West Bank.
In a statement, the ministry said the Italian nationals were detained alongside other international activists in the village of al-Buweib, south of Hebron, while accompanying Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest.
The ministry said it had so far received confirmation that the Italian women were being held at a police station. Israeli authorities had informed it that four Italian nationals were being held.
