(WTVA) — Former Vice President Kamala Harris was in Columbus to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Scott Colom. Thursday’s rally began at 6 p.m. at the Columbus High School gymnasium and wrapped up a little after 8 p.m. More than 1,000 people RSVPed tickets for the event, according to the campaign. Campaign manager Gerard Henderson said, “There is clearly an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm for Scott and Vice President Harris. We look forward to a great event today as we rally voters ahead of election day on November 3.” (https://www.wtva.com/2026/10/21/w-will-not-host-colom-rally-featuring-kamala-harris-campaign-says-event-still/) (https://www.wtva.com/2026/10/21/w-will-not-host-colom-rally-featuring-kamala-harris-campaign-says-event-still/) The campaign had to scramble to find the new venue after the Mississippi University for Women declined to host the rally. Colom, a Democrat, is trying to unseat Republican U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith. They both also face Independent Ty Pinkins in the Nov. 3 general election.
