TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary in Tupelo held its officer installation ceremony Thursday.

Nine women were installed into leadership positions, including Daniella Oropeza, who will serve as publicity officer.

The ceremony recognized women who help carry out the Salvation Army’s mission. The group’s work has continued for more than two decades.

Members raise money and volunteer their time. They work to help ensure families in need have access to food, shelter and other essential resources.

Capt. Schelika Chisolm, with the Tupelo Salvation Army, spoke about the group.

“Each one of our ladies, as they exhibit their faith and service, it comes through in everything we do. They’re always joyous, committed, and they move as one. I really like that about them,” Chisolm said.

Continued service

The women said their work continues beyond the ceremony through fundraising, volunteering, and other assistance.

The auxiliary also welcomes women who want to get involved in their community.
