(WTVA) — Mississippi University for Women (MUW) will not host this week’s rally for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Scott Colom, featuring former Vice President Kamala Harris. The university released the following statement: “The W was a prospective, but not confirmed location for the event. After reviewing the full scope of the operational details made available Tuesday afternoon, it was decided that all of the resources and logistical challenges necessary, including preparation prior to the event, would prove too disruptive to maintain normal campus operations.” Mississippi University for Women statement According to Colom’s campaign manager, the campaign is looking for a new location because the rally is still happening. They will make an announcement later on Wednesday. The rally is scheduled for Thursday, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. and the event running from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (https://www.mobilize.us/scottcolomforsenate/event/1065492/?referring_vol=13753619&share_context=dashboard-event-details&sharer_role=2) (https://www.mobilize.us/scottcolomforsenate/event/1065492/?referring_vol=13753619&share_context=dashboard-event-details&sharer_role=2) Attendees must register through the campaign’s sign-up page. Colom is trying to unseat incumbent Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith. They also face Independent Ty Pinkins in the Nov. 3 general election. Copyright 2026 WTVA. All rights reserved.
