AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) – The drought is impacting an iconic holiday decoration.
Farmers at Worthey Tree Farm in Amory are adapting how they care for Christmas and evergreen trees as drought conditions continue across Mississippi.
The farm is using a mist tractor to water trees.
Some trees have been lost because of the dry conditions, and the farm has continued working to limit those losses.
Jacob Dickens, an Amory tree farmer, said family is the main part of the business.
“Main thing is just family. It’s probably the most special thing that I’ve noticed about the tree farm out here. The tradition and the families, and people wanting to make those memories together,” Dickens said.
Finding ways to work around the dry weather has been important to keeping production moving.
The farm continues to find ways to care for its trees.
