                    "President Donald Trump pledged to pay a \u201c1% commission\u201d Tuesday to anyone who turns in fraudsters \u2014 even \u201creporters.\u201d\nSpeaking Tuesday during an Oval Office event in which he recognized right-leaning independent journalist Nick Shirley, Trump claimed the new Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program would pay out so well journalists might want to ditch their jobs.\n\u201cIf you turn somebody in and you let\u2019s say a report and you find a billion dollars, we are giving a commission to that person of 1%. It\u2019s a lot of money. And if it\u2019s 10 billion, 200 billion, 400 billion, we are giving a 1% commission to that person,\u201d he claimed.\nThere are rules though, the president noted in his remarks:\nYou have to prove you were the one and prove that it was you. I don\u2019t know if you can do this but subject to the laws of our nation, which I feel very strongly about, if a reporter turns somebody in, you have to get approval perhaps you\u2019ll be a wonderful newspaper.\nBut if you turn somebody in you get a 1% commission. You may turn it down or you may say I\u2019m not going to be a reporter any longer. This is too easy. So the reporter turns somebody in. We\u2019re going to continue the same 1%.\nSo if somebody turns somebody in for a million dollars but the million dollars is very small potatoes. You get a 1% commission subject to the rules of the nation, subject to all the things.\nWe are going to let the reporters for the first time in many cases in your lives you\u2019ve done a good job. Some are very professional journalists.\nBut it\u2019s just not a very profitable thing to do but if it\u2019s a very important thing to do. A few things are more important than good journalism.\nWe are going to, if they are allowed to do it, and if you can get approval from your media outlet whoever that may be, we\u2019re going to let the reporters partake because you know a lot of things that are happening.\nI\u2019m going to add into that group of people reporters. If anybody turns anybody in, a billion dollars, 5 billion, 100 billion, you get a 1% commission.\n\u201cI think that would be amazing,\u201d he added before claiming \u201ctrillions\u201d has been stolen by fraudsters and calling out \u201ccrooked attorney generals\u201d in New York and Minnesota.\n\u201cI can name all of them,\u201d he said. \u201cI can name all of them pretty much.\u201d\nThe president then praised Vice President JD Vance and his anti-fraud efforts, including work to boot what Vance has said are more than half a million fraudulent accounts from the Obamacare rolls.\n\u201cIt\u2019s incredible, without any incentive, the kind of money that they\u2019ve already found.
