Vibecoding an LLVM TypeScript Compiler
2 points by harishd30 9 hours ago | hide | past | favorite | discuss
Quick Intro: I'm a TypeScript lover, and I'm on holiday. I was bored.

I had a wild idea: why can't I vibe code an AOT compiler for TypeScript?

However, the language is not strictly 1-1 typescript implementation; it's a subset with the features I want.

This language was meant to write backend APIs and Microservices.

I wanted to have - ARC Memory Management like Swift - Multithreaded task-based async (Like C# or Tokio in Rust) - Strictly Typed - Decentralized Package management like Golang (Hate node_modules) - Good std libraries like Golang

I began using Inkwell LLVM since I was much better at reading Rust than C++. However, it wasn't that great, so I switched to LLVM's default C++.

I got a basic web API running with SQLite

I gave the agent a VPS to benchmark against Node, Bun, Golang with zero optimizations.

Benchmark: https://www.marina-lang.org/benchmark (I was expecting it to perform worse, but it did better) [Benchmark Before C++ Migration]

Stack used Model: GLM 5.3 Flash + Grok 4.7 Cost: ~$10

Should I continue this project? Anyone interested? (Github: https://github.com/marina-lang-hq/marina)

Examples at: https://github.com/marina-lang-hq/marina/tree/main/examples

PS: I haven't used C++ in production. Neither this is project is production ready. It's just a fun experiment.
