ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) – Barbers provided around 100 free haircuts over fall break.

Barbers of Aberdeen hosted a special fall break haircut event for students in the Aberdeen School District.

At Aberdeen Barber Shop JP, students were still in the chair getting fresh cuts ahead of the return to class on Monday.

Organizers said it’s about more than just a haircut; it’s about showing students they’re cared for and helping them feel confident.

“I think it’s a great thing,” said Ja’Korrian Chase Blanchard. “It’s kind of their hearts to take their time on their breaks to help these kids who can’t afford a haircut.”

“They’re demonstrating to them how to be kind, how to be giving, caring, and sharing,” said community activist Delores Badie. “And show compassion to those you don’t even know.”
