Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle's spectacular collapse is one of the most predictable career implosions in modern American history.
In the age of Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris and Katie Zacharia (too soon?), that's really saying something.
I wasn't shocked by the Daily Mail reporting that Kimmy G was under investigation by the State Department Inspector General or when a random Republican donor claimed that she begged him for $100,000 to cover her American Express bill.
I worked with Guilfoyle for years at Fox News. By the time I joined the network in 2012, Kim was already something of a rising star, having started as a legal analyst and climbing the ranks to co-host The Five.
She is insanely charming and we first bonded over our shared disdain for her ex-husband, California's Greasy Gavin Newsom.
'No offense,' I told her. 'I think your ex is a douchebag.'
'I love you and now I know why,' she replied.
Though, the more I got to know Kimberly, the less comfortable I felt around her.

I can't tell you the number of people who have insane stories about this woman, most of which cannot be published because they'd either be legally problematic or make you hurl. But I can say that she's a status-chasing monster always – it seems to me – planning her next move.
I eventually developed a Golden Rule with her: Never, ever, share anything in confidence with Kimberly unless you wanted everyone in her orbit to know about it. In that sense, I treated her like a publicist. If there was something that I needed the world to know, I'd whisper it to her and make her swear not to tell a soul.
Then, there was the manipulation and the unrelenting narcissism.
Kimberly claimed to me – and whomever else was within earshot – that just about everyone at Fox News was in love with her and wanted to sleep with her, especially the women.
One unsettling night, she asked me to meet her at her apartment, which was around the corner from my home, so that we could Uber together to a mutual friend's birthday party.
She answered the door in a black, push-up corset and thigh-high stockings, and purred: 'You like what you see?'
No, I did not. Her weave looked like horsehair and her legs like bendable Ball Park Franks.
I eked out a sheepish, 'You're in great shape.'
Honestly, I was scared of her and it felt like a trap.

I imagined that if I had said, 'Geez Kim, you're so hot you're making me rethink this boring old heterosexuality!' she'd go around the office telling everyone that I wanted to be her Sugar Mama.
Reading that she was allegedly trying to milk Republican donor Eric Deters for one hundred grand on the eve of Senate confirmation (Guilfoyle denies the claim), I just shook my head and thought, 'That's our gal!'
She's always had a thing for Amex.
While at Fox News, Kimberly dated a man who she referred to as 'Lex Luthor.' According to her, he was a lovesick cash cow, who would seemingly do anything to make her happy. Kimberly showed me and several of our friends pictures of his Amex black card – front and back. The images were matched with a corresponding picture of the card holder's private parts.
There were at least three sets of these credit card-penis pairings.
She was infamously branded 'Seabiscuit' and the 'USO' inside Fox News. I won't go into the origins of those nicknames, but they were related to her reputation knowing many, many men.
In fact, Kimberly talked about sex so cavalierly that she made Samantha from Sex and the City seem like Greta Thunberg.
When the initial allegations of sexual assault against former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes started gushing out into the media, Kimberly called me just after six in the morning and demanded that I pledge my loyalty to Ailes and his wife. Terrified that I'd be swung if he survived the onslaught of allegations, I sheepishly went along with it just to get her off the phone.
Eventually, her time at Fox News came to an end amid sexual harassment allegations which included claims she showed a young female assistant – you guessed it – pictures of a conquest's nether regions. Guilfoyle has denied the allegations.
But Kimberly rebounded, hitching up with Donald Trump Jr and launching the next phase of her illustrious career.
Even now, I get a lump in my throat writing about her, because for all the allegations, the stories and the implosion of her ambassadorship, I'm not so sure we've seen the end of Kimberly Guilfoyle.

I have to ponder how has she survived this long? Is she a soulless opportunist whose life is one big hustle, a bedazzled con-artist who simply brachiates from one mark to the next, hoping eventually she hits the jackpot?
We'll see if this frisky cat has finally exhausted all her nine lives, or if she'll miraculously rub up against yet another scratching post to save her fur.
If the Democrats win control of the House of Representatives in the midterms, I expect that they'll call Kim to tell all. She has made herself a laughably easy target. Perhaps Lex Luthor's former girlfriend turns out to be the biggest villain in Trumpland!
But for now, I wouldn't count her out.
I'll just say: Kimberly, you looked fantastic in those thigh-highs.
