BEND, Oregon — A hero dad was driving home for his lunch break when he heard gunshots and ran into an Oregon elementary school special-education room to stop a crazed teen’s deadly mass shooting, according to a report.

Kaylub Giamanco, a carpenter and father of two girls who attend Silver Rail Elementary, was driving home from his break Thursday around 1 p.m. when he heard gunfire, his brother, Kyle Giamanco, told NBC News.

Kaylub Giamanco, 36, who owns a concealed weapon, bravely pursued teen gunman John J. Griffin II into the school building’s special education room and fatally shot him, his brother said.

Despite authorities crediting him with saving lives, Kaylub Giamanco does not want to speak out because he doesn’t feel like a hero and is riddled with guilt for not saving more people, according to his sibling.

Kenda Freeman, who identified herself as Kaylub Giamanco’s mom, told The Post at a family home in Bend on Friday that she was “super proud” of her son’s quick thinking.

“He is absolutely a hero. … It’s not an easy time, and he’s going through a lot. … I’m super proud of him, and I couldn’t ask for more,” said Freeman, 50.

The mom also provided a statement from a family rep saying Kaylub Giamanco is “not seeking recognition” and is asking for privacy.

“The tragedy at Silver Rail Elementary has devastated the Bend community. Lifelong Bend resident Kaylub Giamanco has come forward as the man who shot and killed the suspect who entered the school,” the statement said.

“He is not seeking recognition, but instead wishes to express his gratitude to the first responders, school personnel, and community for the outpouring of love and support,” it continued.

“Kaylub’s family, including his two daughters, who attend the school, respectfully asks for privacy during this difficult time and will not be participating in any interviews at this time.”

President Trump described Giamanco as “a great hero” who “took care of business.”

Griffin, 16, was armed with his mom’s pump-action shotgun when he opened fire inside the Bend school — killing three children, aged 5, 8, and 11, and a teacher.

He shot into the locked doors of the school — where roughly 400 to 450 students attend — to bust inside.

The bloodthirsty teen also critically injured another student, 7, and a teacher, 54. The 7-year-old student, whose family is a friend of Kyle Giamanco, is in a wheelchair and was shot in the face during the rampage, but is now recovering from surgery.
