                    "White House press secretary Katie Zacharia got an unexpected grilling from Trump-pal Fox News anchor Sean Hannity about why she called herself an attorney when she never passed the bar exam, in a departure from the right-wing pundit\u2019s usual kid-gloves questioning of Trump officials.The interview left critics stunned and saying they had never seen the conservative presenter press a Republican, let alone a Trump White House official, so hard after Zacharia appeared on Hannity\u2019s Thursday night show.\u201cHannity is moving in for the kill,\u201d observed journalist Aaron Rupar on X, while The Bulwark\u2019s Will Sommer commented, \u201cThis is the toughest interview I've ever seen Sean Hannity give to a Republican.\u201dZacharia, who touted herself as an attorney before landing the press secretary gig, was interviewed by Hannity after admitting she never passed the bar, which she revealed to another right-wing-friendly podcast earlier that day.Hannity began by calling out Zacharia\u2019s \u201cwidely panned\u201d White House press briefing on Tuesday, which only lasted 14 minutes and in which she only took three questions. Zacharia explained that she was offered the role days before.Fox News anchor Sean Hannity grilled the new White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, in a departure from his usual line of questioning when it comes to Republicans and Trump administration officials (Fox News)\u201cWhat I feel is I really stepped up and to the plate to do the press conference, Sean, with very little prep time,\u201d she said. \u201cGiven the fact that I've been on the job less than maybe eight hours and had a briefing book in the morning, I feel like I did my very best, Sean, to deliver for the American people that day.\u201dHannity then homed in on how Zacharia has repeatedly been described as a \u201clawyer,\u201d citing analysis by Popular Information journalist Judd Legum that she has been referred to as such during 18 appearances on Fox News since March 2025. \u201cYou called it a \u2018conspiracy theory\u2019 as it related to the issue of being a lawyer,\u201d Hannity said. \u201cNow, you did go to Pepperdine. Pepperdine is a good school \u2014 no doubt about it. You took the bar exam, but you didn\u2019t pass the bar exam. The White House official rapid response account, which often posts clips from Fox News touting the Trump administration, including Hannity\u2019s, notably did not share any from Zacharia\u2019s interview.Zacharia went on the right-wing influencer Jack Posobiec\u2019s podcast Thursday, where she claimed the results of her failed bar exam were \u201csomewhat inconsequential.\u201d\u201cI knew I wouldn\u2019t need the bar in China, and we left shortly thereafter,\u201d she claimed. \u201cAnd after moving to China, I think, I didn\u2019t really think much of the bar results or consider that something that I needed to focus on, and I was offered a job at an international practice division of a Chinese law firm.\u201d\u201cThere\u2019s no Chinese bar.
