WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) – A cyberattack is causing headaches for cities in Mississippi.

Nearly 70 government websites were impacted following an attack on their website provider, U.S.NEXT , in Jackson.

Among those facing issues is West Point, with error messages popping up for residents trying to pay their water and electric bills online.

“Where our water and electric department people can pay their bills online, that has probably been the most problematic right now. And we apologize for that,” said City of West Point IT Director Roy Cox.

Residents should check with their local governments for service updates.

West Point’s Light and Water Department can still visit their department in person and pay with cash, check, or by card at the kiosk.

A resident can also call the department directly to be provided with a different link to pay online.
