TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — WTVA is enhancing the way it processes audio.

In addition to better-quality sound, WTVA will be adding audio description.

This is a special service that allows visually impaired people to hear descriptions of scenes shown on their TVs.

It also enables them to hear important emergency information that appears on the screen as a graphic or a crawl.

If you are hearing the audio description, it is because your TV is set to the SAP (Second Audio Program) channel rather than the main or stereo audio channel.

When audio description is not present on the SAP channel, it will sound like normal stereo audio.

If you are set to your TV’s main audio, you will not hear the audio description at all.
