OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) – Two Oxford residents are facing charges following a child abuse investigation.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office reports that 17-year-old Olivia Mosely was charged with three counts of felonious child abuse.
Rhina Delgado, 20, has been charged with one count of misdemeanor child neglect.
The sheriff’s office reports that on Sept. 22, deputies received a report concerning a child who sustained burns to the feet, which allegedly took place at a daycare facility.
By October 9, an arrest warrant was acquired for Mosely and Delgado.
The two appeared before a Lafayette County Justice Court Judge, with Mosely being issued a $25,000 bond.
Delgado was issued a $2,500 bond.
The North Oxford Creative Learning Center issued a statement following the arrests.
North Oxford CLC continues to cooperate with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and state authorities regarding the September 22 incident involving injuries to children in its care.
Our internal investigation determined that the circumstances resulting in the injuries involved intentional actions by former staff members and were not accidental.
Earlier today, the Sheriff’s Office announced two arrests made Friday in connection with the investigation.
Because criminal charges are pending and the internal investigation remains ongoing, North Oxford CLC is unable to provide additional details at this time.
The safety and wellbeing of every child in our care remain our highest priorities, and the conduct identified through our investigation is unacceptable and inconsistent with the standards of care and professionalism we expect from our employees.
Our prayers remain with the children and families affected by this incident.
