(WTVA) — Friends and classmates are mourning the loss of 19-year-old Alden Wade after a fatal crash early Sunday morning in Tupelo. According to the Tupelo Police Department, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash around 1:11 a.m. Sunday in the 4900 block of Cliff Gookin Boulevard. The Lee County Coroner’s Office says Wade was driving a truck when it struck a light pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Students who spoke with WTVA say they are grieving the loss of Wade, remembering him as a genuine and wholesome person. “It was real hard for the community, his friends and family,” said Tupelo High School student Elijah Bradley. “He was a very wholesome and genuine person you could ever meet, and we’re just sorry for the loss.” Fellow student Alyviah Hunt says Wade’s death is a reminder of how quickly life can change. “It’s very sad, and it just makes you think of how quick anything can end,” Hunt said. “And it’s just really sad, and I have prayers for his family.” Police accident reconstructionists responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation. Police say additional information could be released as the investigation continues. WTVA will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Copyright 2026 WTVA. All rights reserved.
