TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Target held its official grand opening celebration Sunday, nearly a week after shoppers were first able to shop at the store.The parking lot was filled and shoppers filtered in and out of the doors throughout the day.One difference between Sunday’s grand opening and Tuesday’s soft opening was traffic on Gloster Street. Woodford Way, located behind Target, is now open to the public, which eased congestion in the area.Tupelo resident Justin Stevens said the change has made a difference for drivers.“It makes it less frustrating for drivers, because they’re not sitting red light, bumper to bumper, or the side streets, getting blocked coming out of Aldi, or where TSC used to be, they’re not getting as blocked, because I mean used to before, it’d be so backed up, you couldn’t even pull out, you couldn’t even go through because the cars would be so backed up,” Stevens said.Copyright 2026 WTVA.
