The person who was shot was conscious and receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital as of 5:24 p.m., according to the NYPD.Mayor Zohran Mamdani said early reports indicated federal agents surrounded the man and a 5-year-old child in his car before opening fire. He said they then removed a child from the vehicle.\u201cI threw myself on the floor hoping I didn't get shot,\u201d Perez said. \u201cIt was in my direction that they were shooting.\u201dAlejandro Uzhca, 19, who lives and works nearby, said he heard glass breaking and seven gunshots. He described the neighborhood as typically peaceful.\u201cNothing like that has ever happened before,\u201d Uzhca said. \u201cI'm perplexed because I've never seen something like this that happened before.\u201dCity Councilmember Pierina Sanchez said the shooting happened near West 225th Street and Marble Hill Avenue.
