TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — The director of Tupelo’s Target store released a statement clarifying what happened at Tuesday’s “soft opening” event.

Good Morning Tupelo! Tuesday’s VIG celebration and ribbon cutting was a big success and thank you for coming out to support the store.

The event was originally going to be a private event for friends and family and some government officials.

But, During the event, we realized we could go ahead and allow more of the public access so we received approval to welcome the public and shared that update with everyone we could as soon as we could.

And Thank you to everyone who helped to spread the word! All Guests were able to come in and shop after 5pm.

The original plan was always to not turn anyone away that wanted to shop at any point before Sundays official opening as part of the soft opening.

We understand that some media received conflicting information from a public relations firm we had hired to help us. We are sorry for that confusion!

So Lets set the record straight. Yes there was a private event planned, and yes those plans changed, and we’re sorry for the unfortunate confusion.

The store is now fully open to the public and welcoming guests during normal business hours. Sunday remains our official opening date but there are no Grand Opening events planned.

Other things that seem to have been miss conveyed that I would like to set straight, at this time we do not have Circle 360 (same day delivery ) and no ev chargers.

We’re grateful for the warm welcome Tupelo has given our team and look forward to your business in the future!
