CLAY COUNTY – A 10-year-old passenger of one vehicle and the driver of another died Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 50 east of West Point. Caroline Frasca, 51, of Columbus, was driving on the highway near Oak Crest Circle at about 8 a.m. Monday when she collided head-on with another vehicle, Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Trooper Bryant Flake told The Dispatch. Frasca and the 10-year-old from New Hope in the second vehicle were both killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene, Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter told The Dispatch. Carter declined to identify the child because he had not received consent from the parents as of press time. The driver and two other children inside the second vehicle suffered “moderate injuries” in the crash, Flake said. That driver was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. One of the passengers was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and the other was driven by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for further treatment. Flake said the cause of the crash is still under investigation, including which vehicle crossed the center line of the highway.
