Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah had earlier announced the death of Saqr Nabil Musa Qais, who led the Turkish humanitarian organisation Deniz Feneri, in a strike on a vehicle in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. In a statement, the Israeli army accused Qais of maintaining "ties with senior leaders of the Hamas terrorist organisation as well as with officials within the Turkish leadership," without providing any evidence. In a separate statement, the Israeli army also claimed that it had killed a commander of Hamas's armed wing in another strike in the same area. Since the genocide began in October 2023, Israeli forces have killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 175,000 others.
