WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) – Students are getting a head start on learning ahead of their fall break.
The district is hosting its Wave Week Fall Intercession the week of Sept. 28 at South Side Elementary School, allowing students to strengthen their skills before the break.
More than 80 students are taking part in the program, continuing to learn through hands-on activities and additional academic support.
And with fall break beginning the following week, students will soon get a chance to put the books down and enjoy some time off.
“The students and the teachers all enjoyed Wave Week,” said Jerrlon Shelton, the facilitator of Wave Week. “We had one student’s mom come to pick him up because he had a doctor’s appointment. He didn’t want to leave. He wanted to stay here because he was having so much fun enjoying himself learning.”
The Fall Intercession program continues through Friday at South Side Elementary.
