NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) – Two people are facing charges after the seizure of fentanyl and more than $3,000.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office said deputies conducted the bust at a home in New Albany on Tuesday.
The search warrant was executed at a home on Hobson Street, said Sheriff Jimmy Edwards, leading to the arrests of two people.
Sheriff Edwards said 24-year-old Luis Javier Diaz is charged with trafficking fentanyl, while 20-year-old Madeline Grace Hooker is charged with possession of fentanyl.
Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said the investigation began a few weeks prior after deputies received information about fentanyl being used and sold out of the home on Hobson Street.
“We were excited to be able to take this much fentanyl off the streets and maybe save somebody’s life from using it,” Edwards said.
