VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) — An apparent shooting in Lee County left a man dead and a woman hospitalized.

The incident happened Tuesday morning at a home on Lesa Avenue in Verona.

Verona police officers found a woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg, Police Chief Marsenio Nunn said.

She received medical treatment at the Tupelo hospital, and doctors later released her.

Officers also found a man dead who had also apparently been shot.

Lee County Deputy Coroner Tim Tate and police identified the man as Devante Faulkner, 31, of Tupelo.

Investigators believe the pair got into a fight that erupted in gunfire, but the case remains under investigation.

Faulkner’s body awaits an autopsy.
