ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The family of an Atlanta student found dead on the campus of the University of Mississippi wants his legacy to last for years to come.

Robert Strang, who grew up in Atlanta, died on Sept. 21. His cause of death has not been released.

“Robert had a particular fondness for people who might not always have had the loudest voice in the room,” his obituary said. “He had a strong sense of fairness and would often stand up for the proverbial underdog, doing so with the good humor, kindness, and easygoing spirit that were so characteristic of him.”

Because of that, his family established “The Robert Tudor Strang IV Memorial Scholarship Fund,” which they say will support an Ole Miss Phi Delta Theta student who could benefit from the financial aid.

They say the recipients will embody his “spirit of loyal friendship, kindness, generosity, and joyful love for life.”

Strang was a member of Phi Delta Theta.

“Those who knew Robert will remember him most for the joy he brought to the people around him,” the obituary said. “He brought people together rather than putting them apart, and he had a way of making those around him feel welcomed and valued.”

For those who want to contribute, gifts can be mailed, noting “Robert Strang Memorial Scholarship Fund” in the memo line, to: Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta; c/o Robert Tudor Strang IV Memorial Scholarship Fund; 191 Peachtree Street NE, Suite 1000 Atlanta, GA 30303; or at this link.
