OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) – A tally found that more than 211,000 visited Oxford during the Ole Miss-Louisiana State game.
This boost in tourism ranged from Friday, Sept. 18 to Sunday, Sept. 20, with around 62,000 in town for Ella Langley’s concert.
The crowd turned out to watch the primetime match between the Tigers and Rebels, with Ole Miss eventually keeping their no-loss streak alive by a score of 32-24.
“Oxford shines brightest when our community comes together. Large‑scale weekends like this rely on coordination across many teams, and I’m grateful for the dedication of our city staff, Ole Miss, and our local businesses. We are committed to maintaining a visitor experience that reflects the hospitality and heart of our community.”
The boost in tourism was an increase of about 44 percent from the same time in 2025, when Ole Miss hosted Tulane University.
The Rebels won that game too, coming out ahead at 45-10.
The City of Oxford said that the game-day weekend led to about 428,000 total visits to its businesses, leading to around $109 million in economic impact.
“Oxford takes tremendous pride in creating a welcoming environment for all of our visitors. Our partnership with local business, hotels, restaurants, Ole Miss and our city teams ensure that every major event weekend runs smoothly with clear communication and helpful information. It’s this collaboration that makes Oxford such a special place to visit.”
