The letter, obtained by USA TODAY, was first reported by CNN.\n\n\n\nCao revealed the figures in a Tuesday letter to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, in response to the lawmaker\u2019s inquiry into conditions aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier amid mental health concerns.\u201cSince the beginning of Lincoln\u2019s deployment, there have been a total of eight suicide attempts across the strike group \u2014 this number includes the Lincoln crew and sailors from the carrier air wing, strike group and destroyer squadron staff, escorting destroyers and all embarked aviation squadrons,\u201d the letter said.\n\n\n\nNo sailors have died by suicide on the Lincoln carrier strike group, Cao said.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMany of the residents of my neighborhood are Navy personal assigned to F-18 squadrons at NAS Whidbey, or one of the deployed carriers. \n\n\n\nAmericans  should be alarmed by Secretary of War Hegseth and Donald Trump disregard for Service members dismal morale.
