STARKVILLE – A Starkville man on parole for auto burglary charges was arrested Tuesday in connection with another series of auto burglaries and for an alleged car theft.

Anthony Buchanan, 20, is charged with 23 counts of auto burglary and one count of felony taking a motor vehicle, according to a Starkville Police Department press release.

SPD was notified Sept. 15 about 23 cars that were allegedly broken into, along with one was reportedly stolen just off Louisville Street, the press release said.

At the time of the burglaries, Buchanan was on parole for auto burglary.

Buchanan, who was already in Oktibbeha County Jail due to a different case, was notified of these new charges on Tuesday, SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady wrote in a text to The Dispatch.

Buchanan was charged with multiple counts of auto burglary in 2023 after 25 cars in Starkville were broken into, the press release said. In 2024, he was charged with one count of grand larceny (auto), five counts of auto burglary and one count of possession of a stolen firearm.

Buchanan is being held at Oktibbeha County Jail. Bond was not set as of press time.
