(WTVA) – Mental health and substance use recovery were the main focuses of a summit on Thursday. United Way of Northeast Mississippi hosted its fifth annual Mental Health and Substance Use Recovery Summit at the Huntington Bank Conference Center in Tupelo. It focused on resources, awareness, and ways communities can better respond to mental health and substance use challenges. Participants also attended sessions on the complexity of suicide, disability and prevention, and recovering from sexual trauma. “Probably everyone knows someone who has been impacted with mental health issues or substance use disorder,” said United Way Northeast Mississippi President Patti Parker. “That’s what today’s summit is all about: helping by bringing resources to bear for those who need those services in our community.” This is the fifth year for the summit.
