TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – Diversicare of Tupelo threw a prom for its residents to celebrate the people who helped shape the community.

The afternoon included a limousine ride, a red carpet, a DJ, and decorations for the residents to enjoy.

Residents got dressed up for the occasion, with community members donating clothes for them to wear.

A local limousine service also donated its services, giving residents a chance to ride in style.

Staff said the event was about more than just giving residents a fun afternoon.

“The purpose of this event is to show our residents that they are still valued, loved, and cared for,” said Erica Graham, admissions liaison for Diversicare.

This was the first time Diversicare hosted a senior prom.

Staff said they are always looking for new ways to keep residents active, engaged, and feeling young at heart.

The afternoon ended with the crowning of a prom king and queen.
