Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as an antisemite and rattled off a list of hate crimes against Jews in the Big Apple during a fiery speech at the United Nations.

Speaking Thursday, Netanyahu loudly defended his country’s war against Iran and then took direct aim at Mamdani, who has sparked controversy by claiming he was exploring the idea of having Netanyahu arrested upon his visit to New York:

We’ve taken in overall steps to protect the civilian population. Is this genocide? Of course not? It’s the opposite of genocide.

So to all those that are spreading these lies about my country, and about our brave soldiers, whether they said in this hall or in the office of the antisemitic Mayor of New York, I say this, shame on you.

Shame on you for distorting the facts. Shame on you for advocating victim and aggressor. Shame on you for spitting in the face of truth.

Mr. Mamdani, since you were elected mayor of this city, many Jews no longer feel safe in New York. They talk to me. They tell me. This isn’t the city we remember.

It changed so quickly. Now it’s no wonder. You praise criminals convicted of supporting Hamas.

You count as friends people like Hasan Piker, who said America deserved 9/11. America deserved 9/11. Some friends you have.

You invite into your home a Palestinian journalist who filmed Hamas terrorist beating and torturing hostages and later admitted that it refused to publish the videos in order to protect, you guessed it, the terrorists.

Your wife liked a post praising the October 7th massacre. She liked another post saying Tel Aviv shouldn’t exist. You refuse to condemn any of that. You’ve falsely, repeatedly accused Israel of genocide. Mr. Mamdani, you tried to stop me from coming here, you tried to silence me. Well, you can’t silence me. You can’t silence the truth.

“In New York, Jews are threatened on the way to synagogue. Jews have been stabbed in the streets,” he raged.

“Jews are demonized, they’re targeted. Simply for being Jews.”

Dozens of delegates walked out of the General Assembly as Netanyahu took the microphone.

“If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t yet left this hall, please do so now,” Netanyahu said at the start of his address.

The prime minister was not expected to meet with President Donald Trump during his visit to America — which prompted about 100 protesters to block the streets around the United Nations ahead of his appearance.

Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday, where the president said he was considering whether to “annihilate the Islamic Republic.”

Netanyahu landed in New York Thursday morning — albeit well outside the New York City-area, instead arriving at Stewart International Airport in the Hudson Valley about 90 minutes north of the five boroughs.

A short while later he posted a message on X previewing his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, writing, according to X’s automatic translation, “I arrived at the UN. At 21:00, going up to attack for [Israel flag emoji]”; Google Translate had the second sentence as “At 21:00, I’m going on the offensive for the sake of [Israel].”

Mamdani has repeatedly claimed he was exploring whether he has the authority to arrest Netanyahu while the prime minister was in his jurisdiction.

Netanyahu has slammed Mamdani for the suggestion and insisted the mayor is “fomenting hate.”

Earlier in the week Israeli ambassador Danny Danon declared Mamdani is the one who should be arrested.

Mamdani — who earlier in the week denied any support for Hamas — responded in a statement provided to Mediaite.

“As he has done time and again, Prime Minister Netanyahu used his speech to repeat baseless lies meant to sanitize his genocide of Palestinians,” the mayor said. “Yet no lie can change the fact that he remains the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant alleging war crimes and crimes against humanity.”
