WEST POINT – A man is behind bars after shooting into his mother’s home Sunday on Douglas Street. Jadarius Clay, 24, was arrested Monday and charged with eight counts of aggravated assault manifesting extreme indifference to life, West Point Police Lt. Detective Mary Huggins told The Dispatch. Officers responded at about 8:43 p.m. Sunday to reports of shots fired at the residence. After arriving on scene, Huggins said officers found multiple rounds had been fired into a residence on Douglas Street. The eight occupants, including Clay’s mother, inside the home at the time of the shooting were uninjured. Huggins said responding officers were told by witnesses in the house that Clay was responsible for the shooting, which stemmed from ongoing arguments between Clay and his mother. During regular patrols Monday, Huggins said officers found and arrested Clay on Westbrook Street. Clay is being held in Clay County Detention Center. No bond was set as of press time.
