Robert Garcia, Rep. Bennie Thompson and Rep. Maxwell Frost shared photographs from the report showing dirty and overflowing restrooms, along with detainees they say are forced to sleep on the concrete floor or in chains. New report, photos detail poor living conditions inside Florida ICE facilities The report also states, “Whistleblowers warn that, among other abuses, ICE is detaining people, including men, women, families, and elderly people with chronic medical conditions for days to weeks in abusive and life-threatening conditions, including overcrowded cells, prolonged shackling, inadequate access to medical care and hygiene, insufficient food, and limited to no legal access.” Garcia is the ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He released a statement, which read: “The Trump Administration is trying to cover up these disgusting and unsafe conditions and escape accountability, while countless lives are put in danger. ICE must immediately put an end to this inhumane treatment and give us answers on this horrific situation.” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz made a surprise visit to the Miramar facility in July and said she saw detainees in conditions she wouldn’t wish upon her worst enemies. 🏠 News From Your Neighborhood Latest headlines from: (https://www.local10.com/topic/Miami-Dade_County/) Miami-Dade (https://www.local10.com/topic/Broward_County/) Broward (https://www.local10.com/topic/Monroe_County/) Florida Keys Cities ▾ (https://www.local10.com/topic/Miami/) Miami (https://www.local10.com/topic/Fort_Lauderdale/) Fort Lauderdale (https://www.local10.com/topic/Coral_Springs/) Coral Springs (https://www.local10.com/topic/Davie/) Davie (https://www.local10.com/topic/Deerfield_Beach/) Deerfield Beach (https://www.local10.com/topic/Doral/) Doral (https://www.local10.com/topic/Hialeah/) Hialeah (https://www.local10.com/topic/Hollywood/) Hollywood (https://www.local10.com/topic/Homestead/) Homestead (https://www.local10.com/topic/Lauderhill/) Lauderhill (https://www.local10.com/topic/Miami_Beach/) Miami Beach (https://www.local10.com/topic/Miami_Gardens/) Miami Gardens (https://www.local10.com/topic/Miramar/) Miramar (https://www.local10.com/topic/Pembroke_Pines/) Pembroke Pines (https://www.local10.com/topic/Plantation/) Plantation (https://www.local10.com/topic/Pompano_Beach/) Pompano Beach (https://www.local10.com/topic/Sunrise/) Sunrise (https://www.local10.com/topic/Tamarac/) Tamarac Copyright 2026 by WPLG Local10.com - All rights reserved.
