TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – A vehicle manufacturer is helping high school students learn about the automotive industry.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi donated a 2021 Corolla to Tupelo High School.

Students enrolled in the school’s Career Technical Center’s Automotive Technology program will use the car for hands-on training.

This includes learning about automotive systems, diagnostics and repairs.

Tupelo Career Technical Center Director Ryan Curry said the partnership with Toyota Motor Manufacturing is a valuable resource.

“It showcases the fact that Toyota believes in our students and wants to give them the necessary tools to be ready for tomorrow’s workforce,” he said.

There are about 40 students enrolled in Tupelo High’s program, with many of them aiming to go into the automotive industry.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Blue Springs employs 2,400 workers and can produce up to 170,000 vehicles a year.
