OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) - Oxford Police said they have received multiple reports of scams involving tickets for the Ole Miss vs. LSU game.

The department posted a scam alert Thursday morning on its Facebook page.

Police said people in the area have reported issues after trying to buy game day tickets online.

What to watch for

Police say fans who have not yet bought tickets should pay attention to three things:

• Be cautious when buying through social media or from strangers
• Buy through official websites
• Verify the seller and tickets before sending money

Where to buy tickets

Tickets on the Ole Miss website are already sold out. The school is partnering with SeatGeek to sell tickets.

Other places to buy tickets include Ticketmaster and StubHub.
